All about the Wednesday audience

pope wednesday audience.JPGAttending the Pope’s Wednesday general audience is often at the top of the wish list for pilgrims visiting Rome and the event has been a papal tradition for many generations. Pope Benedict is currently on holiday at his summer residence of Castel Gandolfo near Rome and consequently the Wednesday general audience has been suspended until the start of August. But during the remainder of the year, with few exceptions, the Pope holds a general audience every Wednesday morning where he greets the pilgrims present and delivers a catechesis.

Youcat, A Book in the Backpack. With the Pope's Autograph

It is the catechism for the very young. It will be launched at the worldwide gathering in Madrid. Benedict XVI is betting on it heavily, and recommending it. "Because it speaks to us of our own destiny," more compelling than a crime novel

Note of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith On the trivilization of sexuality

Note of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith
On the trivilization of sexuality
Regarding certain interpretations of “Light of the World”

pape-lumiere du monde.JPG

The thought of the Pope has been repeatedly manipulated for ends and interests which are entirely foreign to the meaning of his words – a meaning which is evident to anyone who reads the entire chapters in which human sexuality is treated. The intention of the Holy Father is clear: to rediscover the beauty of the divine gift of human sexuality and, in this way, to avoid the cheapening of sexuality which is common today...
